A day in the life of a middle schooler can be pretty complicated. Some middle school boys may have difficulty managing friendships and stress in social situations, especially throughout an entire school day. This after school group will facilitate tools to connect with others and develop healthy ways of dealing with stress through climbing, movement and mindfulness practices.

OBJECTIVES

  • Develop social skills in a peer-supported setting. 
  • Use climbing and hiking as a metaphor for facing challenges in life.
  • Identify strategies for managing stressful situations.

SCHEDULE

Five weekly 75 minute sessions starting October 29

Dates: 10/29, 11/5, 11/12, 11/19 & 12/3

Time: 4:15 – 5:30 pm MST

Cost: $40 per session paid in full at beginning of 5 sessions ($200 total)

What is the purpose of this group?

Who can benefit from Hang Time?

Hangtime is recommended for any middle school boy that would like an opportunity to practice problem solving through an experiential setting.

What should I bring?

Participants can bring snacks, a water bottle, warm clothing for changing weather conditions and tennis shoes.
