Financial Well-Being is elemental in Mentor Agility’s philosophy. Central to a client’s story, financial well-being can lurk in the shadows of conscious awareness, with the ability  to derail or empower clients’ goals.

 

From the start of the coach and client relationship, financial well-being is at play. In this course you will explore financial mindsets, ethics, and coaching agreements in order to create successful coaching partnerships that honor both the coach and the client.

 

From career satisfaction, to relationships, to health, we will explore how financial well-being is crucial to comprehensive well-being and how guiding clients to create creative financial solutions is the key needed to thrive.

We have been devising the structure of the Raconteur Coaching™ for over ten years. The integration of Financial Well Being and the Hero’s Journey® Change Model completed the synthesis of this new discipline, and we are now in a position to introduce it to the world.

The creation of Mentor Agility was the final step in bringing this evolving discipline to life.

One core principle of Raconteur Coaching™ is the understanding that for most of us – and our clients – the sense of our life story is intrinsically linked to our sense of our Financial Well Being. So coaching Financial Well Being should be a core element of your client relationships. How?

Coaching clients, all people really, are often extremely reluctant to talk about money – with their friends, family members, even their most intimate relationships. It becomes a shadow story that influences every aspect of their lives, often to their detriment.

Not surprisingly, that reluctance extends into their relationship with you as their coach. Your ability to help them is intrinsically linked to your ability to break that taboo; to help them uncover how their own sense of Financial Well Being is creating barriers to other parts of their life story. Your ability to make visible the invisible, so they can bring those feelings out of the shadows and into their overall story, can be critical to your success as their coach.

Our coaching of Financial Well Being is centered around helping clients with goal setting, exploring their financial influences, and encouraging the mindset required to sustain, even improve their standard of living. When those elements are in line, other goals, and the stories that accompany them, are dramatically more understandable and attainable.

Meetings: 23 Self-Paced Sessions with over 65 short videos we call “Brain Snacks”

    12 one hour Live Sessions meeting once a week for 12 weeks

FAQs

Does this course require any certified financial planning or other licensing or certification or specific financial knowledge or acuity?

  • No. Though we may work with the client’s financial planner or provide referrals to licensed financial advisors on occasion, our focus is on goal setting, self-awareness, personal growth, and accountability, helping the client understand how his or her perceptions of Financial Well-Being impact other elements of their lives. Sometimes, changes in those perceptions can alter their financial planning, but we leave that to professionals who specialize in that arena.

Is Financial Well-Being a certificate program?

  • Yes, we offer a certificate for students that complete the course. In our initial development of the course and its curricula, we learned that several professional groups would benefit from this course. Accordingly, we developed Financial Well-Being as a certificate program, indicating the level of commitment and expertise required to complete the course. Certificates will be awarded in both Coaching as well as in other professional categories.

Will my clients have to share their confidential financial information with me when I work with them on Financial Well-Being?

  • No. The goal in Raconteur Coaching or coaching related to Financial Well-Being is to help your client understand the interaction between their perceptions of their financial well-being and their overall behavior and self-esteem; their career satisfaction, their relationships, and other important elements of their life stories.

How can I learn more about Raconteur Coaching?

  • We have a full section on our website devoted to Raconteur Coaching™ and how you can become certified in this area of Coaching.

What do I need to participate?

Enthusiasm, an open mind, a notebook, and a pencil! The class will be using Zoom and you will be viewing/streaming videos so a high-speed (10MB Down) internet connection with a computer is recommended so you will be able to see visuals as well as hear the instructor. This is a mixed media interactive class, so students will be asked to actively participate and interact with fellow students and the instructor. While not recommended, students may also call in but will not be able to see any visuals.
